KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Erma E. Christenson, 87, of Kingsley died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley, with Darla Rock officiating. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Erma was born Feb. 9, 1915, in rural Moville, Iowa, the daughter of Wallace and Viola (Broadbrook) Rundall. She graduated from Correctionville (Iowa) Normal School. After graduation, she attended Wayne State Teachers College and Moody Institute. She taught rural school for three years.
She married Richard Christenson on May 25, 1938, in Moville. After their marriage, they farmed in the Lawton, Moville and Kingsley area. Richard died Sept. 17, 1993.
The couple were active at the former Kingsley Church of the Brethren, Elkhorn Township Club and Plymouth County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Dr. David and Barbara Christenson of Hartley, and Marc Christenson and Joyce Wydrzynski of Boring, Ore.; a daughter, Opal Fosterman of Gresham, Ore.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Christenson of Vincetown, N.J.; five grandchildren, Tracey and her husband, Mike McDougall of Portland, Ore., Dr. Stuart Christenson and his wife, Dr. Leslie of Rochester, Minn., Brent Christenson of Deephaven, Minn., Ryan Christenson of Durham, N.C., and Jason Christenson of Vincetown, N.J.; two great-grandchildren, Gage Christenson of Rochester, Minn., and Jacob McDougall of Portland, Ore.; two sisters and their husbands, Ardis and Jim Ledbetter of New Braunsfels, Texas, and Ellen and Harold Carter of Sioux City; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Rundall of Kingsley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul in 2000; and a brother, Wallace in 2002.
