Alice M. Chamberlain, 83, of Le Mars, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society-Le Mars.

Alice Marie Chamberlain was born July 8, 1924, at Newcastle, Neb., the daughter of Arthur and Minnie (Bremer) Chamberlain. As a young child Alice and her family moved to Le Mars where she was raised and graduated from Le Mars High School in 1943. Following her education, Alice worked for various businesses in the Le Mars area including JCPenney's, K-Products, Spurgeon's and Jo-Nee Manufacturing.

Alice was a seamstress and will be remembered by many for all the sewing she did from her home. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and participated in circle. Along with sewing, Alice liked to go fishing.

She will be lovingly remembered by a sister Eileen Lubben and her husband Ken of Le Mars; a brother Lloyd Chamberlain of Olympia, Wash.; a niece Patricia Lubben of Le Mars; a nephew Jim Chamberlain of Olympia, Wash.; and a great-niece Rachel Lubben of Grand Junction, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Marvin Chamberlain; two nephews Michael Lubben and Neil Chamberlain; and a sister-in-law Pauline Chamberlain.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at the Mauer - Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral on Monday.
