Lloyd H. Molzen, 73, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at his home in Le Mars.
Lloyd H. Molzen was born Feb. 15, 1934, on the family farm east of Akron, the son of Henry and Anna (Popken) Molzen. Lloyd was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron. He attended country school and graduated from Akron High School in 1952. Following high school, Lloyd continued his education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., and later graduated with a bachelor's degree from Westmar College in Le Mars in 1956. Lloyd served his country with the United States Navy. Lloyd furthered his desire to learn by completing his masters of business administration at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D., in 1961. While in college, Lloyd enjoyed playing baseball. Lloyd worked as an accountant in Sioux City before accepting a faculty position teaching economics classes at Westmar College. He continued to teach at Westmar for a number of years.
Lloyd had a passion for knowledge. He enjoyed reading and studying to better himself. He enjoyed his time to himself. To many he was viewed as a perfectionist.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marge Molzen of Akron; a niece, Faye Hirt and her husband Tracy of Platte, S.D., and their children, Chase, Shane, and Alexandra; a nephew, Mark Molzen and his wife Danelle of rural Akron, and their family Haley, Ashley, and Ryan; and two great-nephews, Evan and Kai.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna (Popken) Molzen; twin sisters in infancy; and a brother, Glenn Molzen.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Jerry Crow of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Akron, officiating. Interment of the cremains will follow in the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
