ALFRED E. TONE, 53, DIES AT KNOXVILL; RITES SET SATURDAY FOR RETIRED FARMER
Alfred E Tone, 53 lifelong County resident and retired farm operator, died Wednesday at the Knoxville veterans hospital after a last illness of two weeks. He had been hospitalized a month.
He was born July 2, 1918, near Akron, the son of Esla and Grace Adams Tone. His marriage to Dorothy Locer took place May 22, 1942, at Dakota City, Iowa.
A veteran of world war 2, he was a member of the Brunsville Legion post. He also was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian church and men’s organization
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; eight children, Mrs. Elizabeth Herrick of Hutchinson, Kan., Dan, Paul, Tim, David, Mary, Leah and James, all at home, 212 6th St. SE; his mother, Mrs. Ed Jans of Akron, and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Ransom of Silvis, Ill., Barton of Hawarden and Gerald of San Diego, and four sisters, Hope Konat of Sioux City, Ruth Wilson of Janesville, Wis., Naomi Reinhart of Torrence, Calif., and Elaine Wright of Compton, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father and a daughter in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. Rev. Charles Kruse will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Mauer’s funeral home.

ALFRED TONE RITES CHANGED TO SUNDAY
Funeral services for Alfred E. Tone, 53, Le Mars resident who died Wednesday at Knoxville, have been postponed until Sunday afternoon. Rites originally had been planned for Saturday.
Rev. Charles Kruse will officiate at 2:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of Mauer’s funeral home.
