Duane E. Trometer

Duane E. Trometer, 80, of Nashwauk, Minn., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at the Golden Crest Nursing Home in Hibbing, Minn.

Duane E. Trometer was born Sept.21, 1923, in Merrill, the son of William and Anna (Kramer) Trometer. He graduated from Merrill High School in the class of 1942. He was united in marriage to Lucretia Taylor on June 4, 1944, in Merrill. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Merrill where they farmed and he was a service station owner.

In 1966, they moved to Fremont, Neb., where he owned and operated a motel until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, they moved to Nashwauk.

Duane liked to fish and loved his family and his dogs.

Survivors include his wife, Lucretia; two daughters, Barbara and her husband, David Stubblefield of Arvada, Colo., and Jan and her husband, Bob Mayer, of Fremont, Neb.; one son, Larry and his wife, Cookie Trometer, of Hibbing, Minn.; four grandchildren, Michele Kallio and her husband, Andrew, Amy Stubblefield, Chris Mayer and Stephanie Ehmann; and three great-grandchildren.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was Sunday from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. funeral service at the Nashwauk Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jean Megorden officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Nashwauk Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.
