Mrs. Sarah Gabel
Mrs. Sarah Jane Gabel passed away at the Sacred heart hospital on Tuesday, December 20 following a two weeks sickness. She was 79 years, 7 months and 27 days old.
Sarah Jane Taylor was born on April 23, 1876 in Lancaster, Wisconsin. She came to the Merrill vicinity in the early 1880’s. On March 15, 1899 she married George N. Gabel at the farm home of parents near Merrill. Her husband, two sons, her parents, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Verna Fagan of Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Vera Atkinson of Merrill; one son, Clyde[Cloyde] Gabel of Merrill; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mrs. Gabel was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian ladies aid, the Merrill Methodist W.S.C.S. and the Plymouth Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock today (Thursday) at the Plymouth Presbyterian church. Rev. Chas. Kruse officiated, assisted by Rev. Donald Harbour. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Those coming from a distance for the funeral of Mrs. Sarah Gabel were Mrs. Verna Fagen of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gabel of Alcester, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wahl of Pierson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bell of Cherokee, Mr. and Mrs. L. Sampson of Aurelia, Charles and Dorothy Wahl, Mrs. Dorris Wahl and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Yankovich, Mr. and Mrs. John Coates, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Gabel, and Mrs. Alice Buresch of Sioux City.
Pall bearers for the funeral were six nephews: Rollin Tindal, Wesley Taylor, Donald Taylor, Dean Rowe, Ralph Gabel and Kenneth Dry.
