Services Thursday for Merrill native
MERRILL, — Mrs. Lyman (Ayleen) Clark, 78, of rural Merrill, died unexpectedly Monday, Aug., 22, 1994, at her home.
Ayleen M. Hamilton was born Jan. 19, 1916, on the family farm in Liberty Township, rural Merrill, and attended the Liberty Consolidated School. She moved with her family as a young girl to Merrill after her father died.
For many years, Mrs. Clark worked as a cook for Clark Brothers Construction during the 1930s. She married Lyman Clark on Feb. 20, 1936, at Sioux City.
She lived on the family farm for 53 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed doing handiwork.
She was a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Joan) Johnson of rural Merrill; a son, Larry, and his wife, Diana Clark, of rural Merrill; nine grandchildren, Kim Jauer, Clark Johnson, Mitchell Johnson, Carmen Clark, David Clark, Sara Clark, Shana Clark, Steven Clark and Jason Clark; five great-grandchildren, Stephanie Jauer, Jeremiah Jauer, Alicia Jauer, Bridget Johnson, Meggan Johnson; a brother Wayne, and his wife, Esther Hamilton, of Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Veo Dougherty, Jen Ferguson and her twin sister, Arleen Rath; and two brothers, Wesley and James Hamilton.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Merrill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill. Visitation is after 2 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.
