AKRON, Iowa -- Dr. Paul W. Elliott, 82, of West Lafayette, Ind., formerly of Akron, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Westminster Village in West Lafayette.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Paul W. Elliott was born July 1, 1921, in Hibbing, Minn., the son of Seth E. and Gladys (Nall) Elliott. He served as a first lieutenant during World War II from 1942 to 1945 as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Butler University pre-med, graduated from the University of Indiana in 1946, where he finished pre-med, and Indiana University Medical School in 1950.

Dr. Elliott married Helen Elizabeth Henderson on Aug. 19, 1944. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1993. Dr. Elliott was a pathologist at Lafayette Home Hospital from 1960 to 1988, when he retired.

Dr. Elliott was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Bill J. Elliott and his wife, Kristine of Fishers, Ind.; two daughters, Marjorie J. of Chicago, Ill., and Doris J. Hook and her husband, Joe of Akron; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; special friends, Gayle Stockdale and Ruben Timmons; and several cousins.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Gladys (Nall) Elliott.
