KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Phyllis J. Dumas, 71, of Kingsley, formerly of Akron, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, in Kingsley.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Revs. William Kallestad and Paul Evans officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mrs. Dumas was born June 30, 1930, in rural Remsen, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mabel (Riser) Bleil. She graduated from Union High School and attended Morningside College in Sioux City for two years. She married Homer (June) Dumas on June 28, 1951, at Union Township Presbyterian Church, rural Kingsley, Iowa. After their marriage, she and June farmed in rural Remsen, rural Akron, and later moved to Kingsley.

Phyllis was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Preston Township, rural Akron.

Survivors include her husband, June of Kingsley; a son, Chuck Dumas of Westfield, Iowa; three daughters, Chris Van Gelder and her husband, Gary of Creston, Iowa, Cindy Hamilton and her husband, John of Chariton, Iowa, and Kay Richardson of Hawarden, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Charles Dumas and his daughter, Kylie, Heath Dumas, Sara Dumas and her two daughters, Paige and Sumer, Jimmy Dumas, Kari Van Gelder Hudson and her husband, Mike, Brad Van Gelder and his wife, Terri, Hilary Hamilton Masters and her husband, Seth, Susie Hamilton, Phil Hamilton, Joe Richardson, Jesse Richardson and Jordan Richardson.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mabel Bleil.
