HELEN J. AHRENDT

Helen J. Ahrendt, 80, LeMars, died Sunday, March 29, 1992, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church, rural LeMars, with the Rev. Jack Hebard officiating. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Mrs. Ahrendt was born July 22, 1911, in Grant Township, the daughter of Herman and Meta (Von Hagel) Heeren. She married Henry B. Ahrendt Sept. 9, 1941, in Christ Lutheran Church, rural LeMars. He died March 5, 1990.

Mrs. Ahrendt was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church, the WELCA, and was a Sunday school teacher. She served as a member of the Plymouth County Fair Board, was active in women’s activities of the Farm Bureau and had also served as a 4-H leader.

Survivors include a son, Paul Ahrendt, and his wife Kathy of Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Mary Ann Barton, and her husband Dick of Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Norman Heeren and his wife, Eleanor, of LeMars; a sister, Anna Klemme, and her husband, Alvin, of LeMars; six grandchildren, Mark Barton, New York City, Travis Ahrendt, Washington DC, Tami Ahrendt, Minneapolis, and Traci, Teri and Toni Ahrendt, all of Lincoln.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Clara Klemme.
