Thomas P. Burns, 82, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital of complications due to Alzheimers.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvary Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Tim Squire and Deacon Pat Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Burns was born May 29, 1919, in Holabird, S.D., the son of Cecil P. and Helen E. (Schmidt) Burns. He lived in New Ulm and Fairmont, Minn., before moving to Sioux City in 1929. He graduated from East High School in 1938.

He married Lena S. Loger on April 30, 1950, in Elk Point, S.D. He owned and operated Tommy's Tin Shop and Radio Repair and later Tommy's TV Service for 55 years before retiring after 55 years of service.

He had been a member of Calvary Episcopal Church since 1929. He was a ham radio operator, drove horses in parades and collected antique horse drawn buggies.

Survivors include his wife, Lena of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Beverly and Herman Bremer of Le Mars, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Betty and James Dieli of Vista, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Edna and her husband, Hubert Sander, of Derby, Kan., and Mildred Skinner of Canton, S.D.; a granddaughter and her husband, Laura and Rob Roush of Norwalk, Iowa; and two great-granddaughters, Kelsey Anne Roush and Elizabeth Caitlin Roush, both of Norwalk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Kraig Kanaly, Mike Lalumandere, Grady Marx, Rob Roush, Trent Stulich and Ron Skinner.
