Lyle A. Butler, 93, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Burial will be in Northlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.
Mrs. Butler was born Feb. 9, 1908, in Callender, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse and Charlotte (Gill) Walrod. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School.
She was employed as a bookkeeper until her marriage to Gerald Roy Butler on June 22, 1926, in Fort Dodge. Mr. Butler died Feb. 2, 1977, in Fort Dodge. Lyle moved to Sioux City three years ago.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge, and attended Morningside Presbyterian in Sioux City. She was active in Presbyterian Women and worked with the ladies aid doing quilting. She was selected Presbyterian Woman of the Year in Fort Dodge.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Roy and Verna Butler of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters and their husbands, Lyall and Farrell Hansen of Sioux City, and Marie and Ken Harter of Sully, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles; two brothers; a sister; and two great-grandchildren.
