LE MARS, Iowa -- Amanda Marie Bultman, 88, of Le Mars died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at a Le Mars care center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa, with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.
Amanda Bultman was born June 29, 1914, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Gerd and Mary (Borchers) Ludwigs Sr. She was baptized July 19, 1914, and confirmed April 1, 1928, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Iowa. She attended Chatsworth School.
She married George H. Bultman in Plymouth County on March 28, 1937. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1989. They farmed in Sioux and Plymouth counties (Preston Township) areas and retired and moved into Akron in May 1981. She moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars in January 2000. In April 2002, she entered Plymouth Manor, where she resided until her death.
She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening and working with animals. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, where she served as a dedicated Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. She also was a member of the women's groups and served as an officer of these various groups. She became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church with the closing of St. Matthew's.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Verla and Bill Meins of Dakota City, Gerald and Judy Bultman of Gulfport, Miss., and Sharon and Roger Utesch of Brunsville, Iowa; two sisters, Minnie Huebner of Akron, and Gertrude Fluck of New London, Minn.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Bultman of Ireton, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Doris Ludwigs of Le Mars, and Bernice Ludwigs of Lancaster, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harlan Bultman; a grandson, Daniel John Utesch; four brothers, Henry, Gerd, John and Clarence Ludwigs; two sisters, Anna Ludwigs and Etta Kluver; and a great-granddaughter, Julia Meins.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Bultman, James Meins, Brian Utesch, Brent Utesch, John Bultman and David Utesch. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelvin Van Kooten, Kim Wenger, Kyle Krumwiede, Corey Malm, Dirk Abney, George Austin, Brian Rowe, Terry Lancaster and DeeJay Davison.
