LE MARS, Iowa -- Harlan G. Bultman, 65, of Le Mars passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be after noon today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Harlan George Bultman was born Nov. 17, 1937, at Hawarden, Iowa, the son of George and Amanda (Ludwigs) Bultman. He attended school near Akron, Iowa. Following his education, Harlan moved to Minnesota to work at a turkey plant and stayed with his aunt and uncle. He returned to the area and worked for Kay-Dee Feed Mills in Sioux City. Harlan enlisted in the U.S. Army and was inducted on Dec. 2, 1960. He trained as a medical supply clerk with Company C, First Battalion. He was honorably discharged on June 23, 1961, after his father was injured in an accident. He returned to the area to help his parents farm and returned to work at Kay-Dee.

On Sept. 1, 1961, Harlan and Judy Jamtgaard were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden. The couple began farming in the Akron and Craig, Iowa, area. Harlan also worked for Lynott Implement from 1974 to 1975. They retired in 1996 and moved to Le Mars.

Harlan was currently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He had been a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Chatsworth, Iowa, where he served on its council; Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron; and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Akron. He also was a member of Albert E. Hoschler Post 186 of the American Legion. Harlan enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy of Le Mars; two daughters, Kathy Van Kooten and her husband, Kelvin of Pella, Iowa, and Kristen Bultman of Le Mars; a son, Kevin Bultman of Le Mars; two granddaughters, Crystal and Shelby Van Kooten; his mother, Amanda Bultman of Le Mars; two sisters, Verla Meins and her husband, Bill of Dakota City, and Sharon Utesch and her husband, Roger of Brunsville, Iowa; and a brother, Gerald and his wife, Judy of Gulfport, Miss.

He was preceded in death by his father, George; and many aunts and uncles.
