REMSEN, Iowa -- Mabelle Juhl, 89, of Remsen died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Craig Miller officiating. Burial will be in Remsen City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen. Visitation will resume 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.

Mabelle was born June 7, 1915, in rural Remsen, the daughter of August and Henrietta (Harms) Witt. She was raised in the Remsen area and received her education at the Marcus Public School from which she graduated in 1932. She then attended Western Union College in Le Mars, where she obtained her teacher's certificate. She then taught rural school in the Remsen area for 16 years.

On May 26, 1946, she married Earl Juhl at Remsen, where they made their home. She had been a resident of the Happy Siesta since Dec. 13, 2002.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Church in Remsen.

Survivors include her husband, Earl of Remsen; a son, Thomas and his wife, Linda; a daughter, Ann Juhl, all of Orange City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Sarah and her husband, David Kuiper of South Holland, Ill., Nathan Juhl and Mark Juhl, both of Orange City; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Myrtle) Ware and Miss Vivian Witt, both of Le Mars, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Witt and his wife, June.

Pallbearers will be Nathan and Mark Juhl, David Kuiper, Dale Hansen, Dennis Slota and Dale Sudtelgte.
