IDA MARY AALFS

AKRON, Iowa – Ida Mary Aalfs, 105, of Akron died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Akron Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Akron with Monsignor Richard Zenk officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Scripture prayer service at 7 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Mrs. Aalfs was born March 21, 1895, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of John and Ida (Kiplinger) Boden.

She married Clarence J. Aalfs on Jan. 12, 1916, at Akron. They farmed in the Akron area until 1961 when they moved into Akron. Her husband died in 1963. She moved to California in 1965. In June 1995, she moved back to Akron.

She was active in church activities, played bridge and belonged to a card club.

Survivors include a son, Richard of Akron; a daughter and her husband, Margene and Peter Barbolak of Oceanside, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Wayne; a grandson, David; a brother, Patrick Boden; and a sister, Frances Tillitson.
