LE MARS, Iowa -- Ronald Breuer, 64, of Le Mars died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church E.L.C.A. in Le Mars, with the Rev. Gary Landsness officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars, with military rites conducted by American Legion Wasmer Post 241. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars.
Ronald Herman Breuer was born Oct. 1, 1937, on the family farm near Hull, Iowa, to Henry and Arvilla (Techen) Breuer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Hull. He attended school in Hull. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1960 to 1966.
Ron was united in marriage to Karen Schipper on June 9, 1961, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He was a propane truck driver for the Plymouth Co-op from 1960 until the co-op closed in the mid 1990s. He then worked for Ampride in Le Mars until 1997. In January 1998, Ron began working for Gus Pech Manufacturing in Le Mars until ill health caused him to retire in 2001.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and American Legion Wasmer Post 241, where he participated with the lighting of the eternal flame at the Avenue of Flags Memorial Program. Ron and Karen enjoyed traveling, playing bingo and quality time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Le Mars; a brother and his wife, Marvin and Marcella Breuer of Sioux Center, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Dorothy and Willis Van Kley of Sanborn, Iowa; a sister, Kathryn Schipper of Le Mars; a brother-in-law and his wife, Wendell and Patty Schipper of Eloy, Ariz.; 18 nieces and nephews; numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; and his lovable dog, Maggie.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Arvilla Breuer; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Opal and Wayne Schipper; and two brothers-in-law, Glenn and Lee Schipper.
