REMSEN, Iowa -- Dorothy M. Loutsch, 76, of Remsen died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with Monsignor Nicholas J. Ruba and the Rev. Thomas J. Hart officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a Christian Mothers rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mrs. Loutsch was born Dec. 10, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of George and Verna (Cope) Schmidt. In 1930 she moved with her family to Galva, Iowa, where she was raised. She graduated from Galva Public High School in 1944. She then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Sioux City, graduating with a registered nurse's degree in 1948. She then worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City, and also for a year at a Washington, D.C., hospital.

She married Arthur Loutsch on Feb. 1, 1951, in Holstein, Iowa. They made their home near Remsen, where they farmed until retiring and moving into Remsen in January 1990.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur of Remsen; a son and his wife, Steven and Rose of Remsen; a daughter and her husband, Jane and Tom Anderson of Harrisburg, S.D.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, George Schmidt of Twin Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be Jason, Kendra, Karen, Kayla and Matt Loutsch and Tara Anderson.
