AKRON, Iowa -- Marianne Anderson, 76, of Akron passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron.
Marianne (Kerr) Anderson was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Akron, the daughter of James Robert and Birdice (Keech) Kerr. She attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron Community High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to Ivan W. Anderson on June 11, 1947, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Together, they were the parents of three children, Patricia, Richard and Cynthia. She was employed several years as a bookkeeper for Kerr Motor Company, She also worked for 16 years at the Akron Register-Tribune newspaper, retiring in October 1992. Ivan passed away July 28, 1999.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the United Methodist Women and Love Circle, serving in various offices. She also served in church board positions. She was a member of the Embroidery Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Albert E. Hoschler Post 186 and the Siouxland Ostomy Association.
Survivors include three children, Richard Anderson of Sam Rafael, Calif., Patricia Anderson and her husband, Dale of Las Vegas, Nev., and Cynthia Love of Edmonds, Wash.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Delinda and Larry Chafa of Cedaredge, Colo.; a stepson and his wife, George and Frances Davidson of Peoria, Ariz.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 13 great-stepgrandchildren; three brothers, Bob Kerr Jr. of Remsen, Iowa, Marvin Kerr of North Liberty, Iowa, and Roger Kerr of Santa Anna, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Lillian Peskey of Denver, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Phyllis Huddeston; a sister-in-law, Peggie Kerr; and a grandson, Joshua Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gordy Johnson, Robbie Von Hagel, Jeffrey Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, Joshua Anderson and John Love.
