Grace M. Feuerhelm, 90, of Merrill, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Good Samaritan Village (Brentwood) in Le Mars.
Grace Margaret Tindall was born March 22, 1916, on the family farm in Johnson Township to Adam and Lizzie (Grebner) Tindall. Grace was baptized and confirmed at the Adaville United Brethren Church. She attended country school in Johnson Township and graduated from Akron High School in 1934.
Grace received her teaching certificate from Western Union College in 1936. She taught in several different schools around northwest Iowa. Grace was united in marriage to William Feuerhelm on June 6, 1945, at the Adaville United Methodist Church. William died Nov. 2, 1987. Grace continued to live on the farm until 2004 when she moved to Park Place Estates. In 2005 she moved to the Brentwood Good Samaritan Village.
Grace was a lifelong member of the Adaville church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, was a past Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, taught Bible School and kept the cemetery records for many years. She was a 4-H leader for the Johnson Junior Homemaker's and was a member of the Plymouth County Historical Society.
Family was very important to Grace. She loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her two children: a son, Alan and Carol Feuerhelm of Le Mars and their children Scott and Jill Feuerhelm and their son Luke of Le Mars, Brad and Joyce Feuerhelm and their children Kelsey and Camden of Le Mars, Kari and Justin Daale and their children Brynlie and Blake of Le Mars; a daughter, Carolyn and Raymond Smith of Addison, Ill., and their children Michelle and Nick Padfield and their son Brett of Bowie, Md., and Kevin Smith of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Phyllis and Claire Allen of Akron; two brothers-in-law, John and Lloyd Feuerhelm of Merrill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Lizzie (Grebner) Tindall; her husband, William Feuerhelm; two brothers, Alan Tindall and Adam Tindall and his wife Helen; a brother-in-law, Kasper Feuerhelm; and a sister in infancy.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Adaville United Methodist Church, rural Merrill, with the Rev. Charles Tefft officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitations will be after 4 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the family present after 5 p.m. to greet friends followed by a 7 p.m. prayer Service, all at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the church Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Scott Feuerhelm, Brad Feuerhelm, Justin Daale, Nick Padfield, Kevin Smith, and Tom Morse.
