Mrs. William Philips

Mrs. William Philips, 78, of Akron, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1980) in a Sioux City hospital of a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Adaville United Methodist church near Akron.

Revs. Don Bardole and Peter Petersen will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley cemetery at Adaville under direction of the Schroeder funeral home.

Mrs. Philips, the former Irene A. Johnson, was born Jan. 9, 1902, in Plymouth County. She was married Feb. 25, 1925, in Sioux City. They were lifelong Akron area farmers, retiring to Akron in 1960.

Survivors are her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Margaret) Talbott, of Akron; four sons, Richard, Jason and Samuel, all of Akron, and Herbert of LeMars; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Tom (Ruth) Kinney of Sinton, Texas and Mrs. Kate Tsitouras, of Cedar Rapids.
