Clarence L. Bristow
Clarence L. Bristow, 85, a resident of New Horizon Care Center, Sioux City, died Friday (Dec. 8, 1978) at the home after a several-years illness.
Mr. Bristow was born April 30, 1893, in Adaville, Iowa. He married Elizabeth A. Bradley June 18, 1924, in Sioux City. He grew up on a farm near Adaville and attended rural schools in Plymouth County. He formerly worked as a bookkeeper for a Merrill lumber company. Mr. Bristow served in the Army during World War I and later owned and operated a grocery store in Brunsville.
He was a 50-year Mason, a member of Triangle lodge 643 AF&AM, a charter member of Oleson-Halweg post 12, American Legion, at Merrill and the National Association of Rainbow Division veterans.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Clayton L., of Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. James (Barbara) Scallin of East Lansing, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Anderson of Sun City, Calif., Mrs. Blanche Larson of Carmel, Calif., and Mrs. Earl (Grace) Schindel of Sioux City; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Northside chapel. Rev. Ralph Brink of the First Baptist church will officiate. Burial will be in Adaville cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel by Triangle lodge 643, AF&AM.
A flag presentation will be made by Oleson-Halweg post 125 American Legion.
