Mrs. Mayme E. Henke

Mrs. Mayme Elizabeth Henke, 81, rural Elk Point, died Monday (July 6, 1981) in the Akron hospital of a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. The Rev. Peter Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Akron.

Mayme Elizabeth Talbott, was born January 12, 1900, to Charles and Abby Fletcher Talbott at Adaville. She married John Henke March 20, 1919 at Le Mars. He died in 1963. They farmed in Union county, South Dakota. Mrs. Henke lived on the farm until moving to the Alcester nursing home in 1980 and to the Akron nursing home in 1981. She was a Gold Star Mother.

Survivors include three sons, William of Akron, Wayne and Leslie, both of Elk Point; one daughter, Mrs. Eldon (Margaret) Eden of Puyallup, Wash.; two brothers, Clarence Talbott, Jefferson, SD. and Clifford Talbott, Abilene, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Bert (Dora) Lawrence, Mrs. Julius (Florence) Olson, and Mrs. Leslie (Gladys) Sullivan, all of Elk Point, and Mrs. Emery (Pearl) Powell of Alcester; six grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, three daughters, and seven sons.

Pallbearers are Raymond Henke, Merlin Henke, Ray Kashas, Richard Henke, David Maynard, and Kendall Talbott.
