George F. Henke
George F. Henke, 69, of Aurelia, died Thursday (Oct. 8, 1987) at Sioux Valley Memorial hospital at Cherokee after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at United Methodist church at Aurelia. Rev. Ronal Kitterman officiated. Burial was at 2 p.m. in Riverside cemetery at Akron under direction of Wharton funeral home of Aurelia.
Mr. Henke was born May 11, 1918, at Akron. He married Rae Hummel Aug. 20, 1937. She died March 6, 1976. He married Cleo Demarest Sept. 15, 1980, at Elk Point, S. D. He had worked as a mechanic for International Harvester at Akron and later for the John Deere dealership at Elk Point.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Clark of Le Mars; two sons, George E. of Gilette, Wyo., and Phillip L. of Council Bluffs; his mother, Jesse Henke of Elk Point; two step-daughters, Judy Henke of rural Cherokee and Barbara Brown of Pocatello, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
