ELK POINT, S.D.—Jessie M. Henke, 93, of Elk Point, died Saturday, May 12, 1990, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point with the Rev. Leslie Hernes officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Akron, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today, with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Henke the former Jessie Mary Tomoson, was born Sept. 15, 1896, in Union County, S. D. She attended rural school in Union and Clay counties. She married Ernest Henke Sept. 30, 1912, at Elk Point. They farmed in rural Akron until 1928, then moved into Akron until 1953, when they moved to Elk Point. Mr. Henke died March 12, 1961, at Elk Point. She had resided in Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point since 1982.
She was a Lutheran.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Cleo Henke of Aurelia, Iowa, and Doris Jensen of North Sioux City, S.D.; three grandsons, George Henke of Gillette, Wyo., Phillip Henke of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and William Henke, stationed in Okinawa; four granddaughters, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Clark of Le Mars, Iowa, Mrs. Louie (Teresa) Talbott of Champlin, Minn., Judy Henke of Aurelia and Mrs. Barbara Brown of Pocatello, Idaho; 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons and two grandchildren.
