MRS. ALMA NYGARD CALLED BY DEATH
Rites Held Tuesday For Long Time Resident Of This Community
Mrs. Alma Nygard, a resident of Akron the past eight years, passed away Saturday morning, October 25, 1958, in a Sioux City nursing home, where she had resided the past few weeks, aged 78 years, 5 months and 29 days. She had been in failing health the past several years.
Alma Amundson was born April 27, 1880, at pioneer Union county parents, Anton and Olena Amundson. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran church. On January 8, 1901, she was united in marriage with Otto Nygard. In 1951 they retired and moved to Akron. Mr. Nygard preceded her in death in 1954.
Surviving are three sons, Howard R. of Hawarden, Ia., Clifford and O. Kenneth of Akron; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Solberg of Sioux City, and Mrs. Minnie Olson of Los Angeles, Calif.
Also preceding her in death were one sister and three brothers.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Immanuel Lutheran church, Akron, Pastor David J. Roy officiating. Mrs. Alvin Frisk was soloist and Mrs. H. Shoulberg was organist. Pallbearers were Joe Powell, Ira Pederson, Orlan Lawerence, Emil Stene, James Sommervold and Andrew Schipper. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
