CARNES (column)
Mrs. Sarah Sweetser Gray, an old pioneer resident of Fredonia township in Plymouth county, died at her home in Medical Lake, Wash., Friday evening, July 31st. She with her husband, William Sweetser, better known as “Uncle Billy,” resided for many years on the farm now occupied by John Holster, which was homesteaded by the Sweetsers, who bravely endured all the hardships and discomforts of the early settler. From the farm the Sweetsers moved to LeMars and later to Washington, where Mr. Sweetser passed to the great beyond some seven years since. A year afterward Mrs. Sweetser married Samuel Gray, who preceded his wife in death about two years. Mrs. Gray was an aunt of A. S. Knowlton of Carnes and was nearly seventy-five years of age at the time of her demise.
