Cynthia K. Branum

Cynthia Kaye Branum, 48, of Spirit Lake, and formerly of Gillette, Wyo., died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, following a year-long fight against leukemia. She never complained and was so brave throughout her journey. People around her learned so much from her strength and courage.

Branum, the daughter of Robert and Alma Behl, was born on April 3, 1959 in Springfield, Ill.. Cindy grew up in Beardstown, Ill., and graduated from Beardstown High School in 1978.

Cindy had spent the last 15 years happily married to Matt Branum. Together they have a 10-year-old daughter, Morgan.

Cindy devoted her life to caring for children. Children had an immediate connection and security with her. She cared for handicapped children at BOCES for 15 years before opening her own daycare.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Matt Branum; her son, Brian Spears and his wife Amanda; her daughters Amy Flohr and her husband Charlie, Angela Spears and Morgan Branum; her grandson Adam Flohr; her parents, Robert and Alma Behl; a brother Kent Hoots and his wife Pam; her parents-in-law, Keith and Adrienne Branum of Merrill; sisters-in-law, Ann and Brian Porterfield and Julie and Mike Moran; and brother-in-law, Mark and Rachelle Branum; and nieces and nephews. Countless friends and children will also miss her.

There will be a viewing at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyo., today Tuesday, Nov. 13), from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at High Plains Community Church in Gillette, Wyoming on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill on Friday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the Merrill United Methodist Church.
