Pamela Ann Allen
Pamela Ann Allen, 53, of Hudson, South Dakota, died Friday, October 27, 1995, at the Hawarden Community Hospital, Hawarden, Iowa, after a long illness.
Services were held Monday, October 30, 1995, at Peace Lutheran Church, Alcester, S. D.; the Rev. Richard Luttmann officiating. Music at the prayer service was “Wind Beneath My Wings” sung by Landra Fuentes, accompanied by Connie Larson. Music service was “How Great Thou Art” sung by Daryl and Bev Fickbohm, and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “The Old Rugged Cross” sung by the congregation. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa, under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron, Iowa.
Casketbearers were Tom Miller, Bob Gray, Gary Taylor, Barry Taylor, Tom Hamann, and Ben Honomichl.
Mrs. Allen was born February 24, 1942, in Seattle Washington, the daughter of Jim and Viola (Estren) Martin. She received her education in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating mid-year in 1960 from Central High School. She married Larry L. Allen August 27, 1960, in Sioux City. They lived in Alcester, South Dakota, until moving to Hudson, South Dakota, in 1992.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester. Mrs. Allen loved to look after elderly people and her grandchildren. She enjoyed her hobbies of sewing and crafts and looking after her family. She won many awards and ribbons at fairs with her sewing and crafts.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Landra Fuentes of Vermillion, South Dakota and Karla Merrick of Alcester, South Dakota; two sons, Lance Allen and Payne Allen of Hudson; three grandchildren, Krissy and Aaron of Vermillion, and Kaisha of Alcester; her mother, Viola Estren of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Vicky Taylor of St. Louis and Cherie Kasten and her husband Boyd of St. Louis; three brothers, Roger Martin of Norfolk, Virginia, Barry Taylor of his wife Sue of Lake of Ozarks, Missouri, and Gary Taylor of St. Louis; a special friend, Kathy; an uncle, Robert Martin of Vermillion; special cousins, Judy Gomez and Barb Sampson.
