Emelie M. Schulz

Mrs. Emelie M. Schulz, 88, longtime Le Mars and area resident, died Monday (May 22, 1978) at Brentwood Good Samaritan center, Le Mars after a week's illness. She had lived at Brentwood for six years.

She was born July 27, 1889, in Reading township, Sioux county, to Hajo and Margaret Ricklefs Onken. Her marriage to Herman Schulz, took place Feb. 8,1911, in Reading township and the family farmed near Craig until 1948.

Mr. Schulz died in October 1927. Also preceding her in death were her parents, eight brothers and sisters and a son Kenneth.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's American Lutheran church, Craig. Rev. Walter Otto will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Helen) Hartman, Akron; Mrs. Bennie (Gladys) Ahrendt, Le Mars, and Mrs. Arlene McHale, Craig; two sons, Melvin, Le Mars and Herman Schulz, rural Le Mars; 20 grandchildren; IS great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Schmidt, Le Mars, and Mrs. Laura Lehrman, Maurice.

Mrs. Schulz was a member of St. John's church, ALCW and women's missionary federation.
