Vernon J. Singer
Vernon J. Singer, 52, lifelong Le Mars resident, died unepectedly Sunday at Floyd Valley hospital. He had been admitted to the hospital only one-half hour before his death. He reportedly had been working at his business place, the Sinclair service.
He was born Dec. 3, 1924, at Elkton, S. D., to Urban and Kathryn Bentz Singer. He came here with his parents when he was two months old.
Mr. Singer was owner-operator of the Sinclair service in Le Mars and he was a member of the Eagles club.
His marriage to Opal Swisher took place May 28, 1945, in Le Mars.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church, Le Mars, with Rev. Francis Staber officiaing. Burial will be in le Mars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnsonfuneral home.
The rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8:15 p.m., at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife Opal, Le Mars; two sons, James and Terry, both of Le mars; five grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin, Merlin and Elmer, all of Le Mars, and Herb, Monroeville, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Hoffman and Mrs. Don (Florence) Diediker, both of Le Mars.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
