Julia V. Dobbert

Julia V. Dobbert, 91, of Le Mars, died early Tuesday, April 23, 1996, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Julia V. Carley wa born June 30, 1904, to Julius and Nora (Phillips) Carley. As a young girl she moved with her family to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Her mother died and she and her brother and sister came to Le Mars to live with relatives.

Mrs. Dobbert worked as a cook in restaurants for several years. During World War II, she worked in an egg processing plant in Omaha, Neb. On Aug. 17, 1946, she married Alfred Dobbert in Le Mars, where the couple made their home. He died June 20, 1973. In 1979 she moved to the Floyd Valley Apartments, and in December of 1990 she became a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center.

Survivors include a half-sister, Leila Hurbutt of Bellevue, Neb.; and a nephew, Don Hurbutt of Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Lloyd Carley; and a sister, Beulah Carley.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Conducting the service will be the North Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses of Sioux City. The Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home of Le Mars is in charge of arrangements.
