Mrs. Thos. Eyres Taken By Death
Early Settler In Union Township
Mrs. Thomas Eyres, 73, wife of the late Thomas Eyres, well known farmer in Union township for many years, died Monday morning, September 25, at Lake Pequot, Minnesota, from a stroke after an illness of three years. Her death took place at the home of her son. Dr. T. E. Eyres, where she had been living of late.
Christina Margaret Watson was born near Montreal, Canada, May 26, 1871, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Watson, to Le Mars in the early seventies. They took up land in Union township where she grew up and was educated and was married to Thos. Eyres, November 26, 1890, the ceremony taking place at the First Presbyterian church in Le Mars with Rev. D. W. Fahs officiating. She is survived by her children, Mrs. G. E. Held of Hinton, Calvin H. Eyres and Roderick S. Eyres of Union township, Harriett Eyres and Ethel Eyres of Washington, D. C, Mrs. Helen Wilson of Pequot Lake, Minn., Dr. Philip Eyres of Traer, Iowa, and T. E. Eyres of Pequot Lake, Minn., and her brothers and sisters, Mrs. Hugh Maxwell of Le Mars, Allen Watson of Le Mars, Mrs. Janette Lewis of Crofton, Neb., Mrs. James Alexander of Plainview, Neb., Mrs. Beatrice Schumann of San Diego, Calif., and Archie Watson, whose present address is unknown. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away August 10, 1934, and a brother and sister, James A. Watson and Mrs. Lena Rainboth, of Le Mars.
The remains will be shipped to the Mauer funeral home today and services tentatively are set for Wednesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church in Le Mars. Interment will be made in the Union township cemetery.
