DEATH SUMMONS MRS. W. WHITEHOUSE

Last Rites For Esteemed Former Akron Woman Are Held Tuesday

Mrs. Wm. H. Whitehouse, a former resident of Akron for many years, passed away at her home in Sioux City, Iowa, Sunday morning, January 9, 1940, at 4:25 o'clock, after a brief illness, at the age of 67 years, 3 months, and 9 days.

Dorothea Hitzemann was born September 20, 1872, at Lowden, Iowa, where she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. In 1890 she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hitzemann, to Plymouth county, Iowa, locating near Akron, and this remined her home most of her life, with the exception of five years when she lived at Aberdeen, S. D., and the past three years in Sioux City. On December 25, 1907, she was united in marriage with Wm. H. Whitehouse, and their union was blessed with one daughter, who passed away in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Whitehouse moved from here to Sioux City in 1936, and they have since resided there.

Besides her husband she is survived by two brothers, Aug. and Herman Hitzemann, of AKron, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Reemts, of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

A kind and devoted wife and sister, a helpful and valued friend and neighbor, she was highly esteemed in a wide circle of friends, who extend sincere sympathy to the bereaved husband and other near relatives.

Funeral services were held from the Christy undertaking parlor in Sioux City and in Trinity Lutheran church, Akron, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Fred. A. Meske. The choir sang three selections, "Have Thine Own Way, Lord,", ""in the Sweet Bye and Bye", and "Good Night and Good Morning."

The pallbearers were nephmann and Carl Hitzemann, of Akron; Earl Hitzemann, and Clifford Hitzemann, of Sioux City; Frank Simeon, of Sioux Falls, and Henry Simeon, of Laurens, Iowa. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
