DEATH SUMMONS ESTEEMED AKRON WOMAN THURSDAY

Mrs. Herman Hitzeman Had Resided Here Since Early Girlhood

Mrs. Herman Hitzemann, a resident of Akron and vicinity since early girlhood; passed away Thursday evening, May 30, 1940, in St. Joseph's hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, where she had been ill of heart trouble and complications the past three months. She was 68 years, 3 months, and 17 days of age.

Katherine Blum, daughter of Peter J. and Elizabeth Blum, was born February 13, 1872, at Sublette, Illinois. A few years later her parents moved to western Iowa and located in Plymouth county. She grew to young womanhood here and was united in marriage with Herman Hitzeman of Akron, on May 1, 1897. They have made their home here ever since. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Irene.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Edwin, in 1882, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Blum, a number of years ago.

Mrs. Hitzeman was a fine homemaker, a kind and devoted wife, mother and sister, a good neighbor and most considerate of others, ever ready to help in time of need or distress. She was a devout and faithful member of the Catholic church.

There are left to mourn her departure, her husband, Herman Hitzeman; one daughter, Mrs. Thos. Burnight, of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Caroline Waldschmitt, of Los Angeles, Calif., and six brothers, Peter, of Ellendale, Iowa; Jacob, of Vermillion, S. D.; George, Frank, Bernard and Edward, of Akron. They have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Patrick's Catholic church, Rev. Father. Chas. Ernst officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery here.
