John H. Feuerhelm, 88, of Le Mars passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Merrill United Methodist Church with Reverend Merrill Muller officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars followed by a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service. Visitation will continue Monday morning at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Pallbearers will be Lee Schultz, Mel Schultz, Don Schultz, Keith Fischer, LeRoy Schrunk, and Randy Kroese.
John Herman Feuerhelm was born July 21, 1925 ,on the family farm in Stanton Township, rural Merrill, Iowa to Solomon and Bertha (Draheim) Feuerhelm. He attended country school in Stanton Township. Following school, John began to assist his parents on the farm and became part of the third generation of Feuerhelm’s to farm in Stanton Township. John continued to live on the farm until moving to Park Place Estates in May of 2007. John has made his home at Plymouth Manor Care Center since May of 2013.
John was a member of the Stanton E.U.B. Church and later the Merrill United Methodist Church, Plymouth County Farm Bureau, and the Plymouth County Pheasant Forever. John and his brother Lloyd received an award from Pheasants Forever for their donation and planting of many trees on their farm. John enjoyed visiting with his neighbors through the years.
Survivors include a nephew, Alan Feuerhelm and his wife Carol of Le Mars and their children: Scott and Jill Feuerhelm and children Luke and Abby, Brad and Joyce Feuerhelm and children Kelsey and Camden, Kari and Justin Daale and children Brynlie, Blake, and Brevan all of Le Mars; a niece, Carolyn Smith and her husband Ray of Gambrills, Maryland and their children: Michelle and Nick Padfield and son Brett of Bowie, MD and Kevin Smith of Pretoria, South Africa; and several other relatives.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Bertha (Draheim) Feuerhelm; three brothers: William and Grace Feuerhelm, Kasper Feuerhelm and Lloyd Feuerhelm.
The family of John Feuerhelm wish to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Park Place Estates, Plymouth Manor Care Center and Siouxland Hospice for their loving care.
