Mae L. Neunaber, 91, of Akron died Monday, February 19, 1996, at the Akron Care Center after a long illness.

Services were held Wednesday, February 21, 1996, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Akron, with the Rev. Donald Greenough officiating. Music was "On Eagle's Wings" and "How Great Thou Art" sung by Gary Tucker. The congregation sang "The Old Rugged Cross." Suzanne Dobney accompanied on the piano. burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, Iowa under direction of Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron.

Casketbearers were Virgil Willer, Stanley Willer, Denny Rozell, Dick Fergensen, Arden Johnson, and Ron Adamson. Honorary casketbearers were Gordon Port, Gary Port, Gail Port, Lisa Neunaber, Jonathan Neunaber, and Paige Neunaber.

Mrs. Neunaber was born January 15, 1905, at Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin, the daughter of arthur L. and Mammie (Tucker) Rozell. She moved with her parents to Iowa at the age of five years.

She married John B. Neunaber April 15, 1925, in Le Mars. He died in November 1963.

She worked for the Akron-Westfield school for six years after moving to Akron, where she lived on the farm for 39 years. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. she also was a seamstress for many years.

Mrs. Neunaber was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the roving Garden Club and Embroidery Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce and her husband, Daryl Port of Akron; two sons, Don and his wife, Esther, of Akron and Marvin and his wife, Lori of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Arvil and Alva Rozell of Le Mars and Arlo Rozell of Akron; and two sisters, Merva Hartman of Hawarden and Mona Smith of Akron.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Art, arden and Archie; and four sisters, Mabel Wiler, Mary Moss, Marie Smith, and Muriel Krueger.
