Bernice Schroeder, the ten [eight[-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schroeder, residing southwest of Remsen, passed away at an early hour Wednesday morning, in the Community hospital, Le Mars, where she had been confined but one day.
The little girl’s death was the result of a complication of bowel troubles. She was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning, and passed away at 3:00 o’clock yesterday morning.
The deceased is survived by her parents, one brother and two sisters. She was the oldest child in the family.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon, with services at the home at 12:00 o’clock and at Christ Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. Fred Wahlers. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, August 4, 1921, page 1, column 3 .Note: Although there is no gravestone, little Bernice is likely buried in the Remsen City Cemetery with her two little brothers, Harm and Laurence Schroeder. In the 1920 U. S. Census, Bernice was listed as 6 years old, so she was likely eight years old when she passed away.
