MRS. HEINKE SCHUT BURIED HERE TUESDAY. Former Remsen Woman Dies at Windom, Minn., at Age of Sixty-Seven, Lived Here Many Years.
Mrs. Heinke Schut, a former resident of Remsen who lived here for many years, died at her home in Windom, Minn., last Saturday at the age of 67 years, from complications with which she suffered a considerable time.
The body was brought to Remsen, arriving here Monday morning, and the funeral taking place Tuesday afternoon with services in St. Paul’s Evangelical church, and conducted by the Rev. Hy. Reifschneider.
Mrs. Schut, formerly Heinke Wiebke Rolfs, was born January 10, 1861, in the village of Tetenhusen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and was a daughter of Hans and Anna Rolfs. She came to the United States in the year of 1885, settling at Dysart, Iowa, where she made her home with an uncle. On February 16, 1886, she was united in marriage to Claus Bruggemann, who was also a native of Tentenhusen, Germany, and to this union were born three sons and one daughter.
In the spring of the same year the couple came to Plymouth county and settled on a farm near Remsen, which farm is still owned by his estate.
On March 26, 1896, her husband died, leaving her with four small children. After residing on the farm for two years Mrs. Bruggemann moved to town and later was united in marriage to Graus [Claus] Schut, this marriage taking place in 1901. One daughter was born to this union.
March 1, 1905, Mrs. Schut located on a farm near Windom, Minn., where she lived until 1911, when they returned to Remsen.
She leaves to mourn her death, three sons and one daughter, who are: Matt Brugman, Hans Brugman, Peter Brugman, and Mrs. Alfred McKinney, all of Windom. There is also a sister, Mrs. Margaret Thompson of Remsen – Remsen Bell-Enterprise, February 23, 1928, page 1, column 4.
