Harold R. Lias

Harold R. Lias, 69, of Akron, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 11, 1999, in Akron.

Services were held on Sunday, March 14, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron with Reverend William Flemr officiating with a military flag presentation made by Hoschler American Legion Post #186 of Akron. Schroeder Funeral Home, Akron, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.

Mr. Lias was born on March 3, 1930, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Helen (Michael) Lias. He attended high school and graduated from Westfield High School. He worked as a farmhand for many years in the Akron area. He served in the U.S. Army from January 24, 1952, to January 23, 1954. He was a member of the Hoschler American Legion Post #186 of Akron and V.F.W. Post #915 of Elk Point, S.D. Mr. Lias enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal "Chris" Nedved of Bellevue, Neb.; a granddaughter, Michelle Nedved of Denver, Colo.; a great-grandson, Deven Nedved of South Sioux City, Neb.; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
