Funeral Monday for Emma Behrens.
Emma Fredericka Behrens, 88, Remsen native and lifelong resident, died Thursday, July 25, 1991 at Happy Siesta Nursing Home.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 29 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Craig Miller officiating. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery under direction of the Moeller Funeral Home.
Mrs. Behrens, the former Emma Kahl, was born June 8, 1903 on a farm south of Remsen to Harry and Margaret (Grage) Kahl. She attended Remsen rural schools.
Her marriage to Fritz Behrens took place Jan. 6, 1930. The couple farmed in the Kingsley and Remsen area until 1958 when they retired and moved to Remsen. Mr. Behrens died in 1985 and she moved at that time to Happy Siesta Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of the Ladies Aid.
Surviving are a son, Loren of Kingsley; a daughter, Mrs. Adrian (Dorothy) Tilbury of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Hilda Kahl of Remsen; and a brother, Harry (Bud) Kahl, also of Remsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister – Remsen Bell-Enterprise
