Rites April 17 for Anna Steffen.
Mrs. Fred (Anna Marie) Steffen, 89, of Remsen died Sunday, April 14, 1991 at Floyd Valley Hospital, Le Mars. She had been ill for six weeks.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 at Christ Lutheran Church, Remsen. Rev. James D. Wilson officiated. Burial was in the Remsen City Cemetery under direction of the Moeller Funeral Home.
Mrs. Steffen, the former Anna Marie Grage, was born Sept. 2, 1901 in Henry Township, south of Remsen, the daughter of Joe and Dora (Christophersen) Grage. She attended rural schools in the Remsen area.
Her marriage to Fred. A. Steffen took place March 24, 1920 at the home of her parents, southeast of Remsen. The couple farmed southeast of Remsen until 1954, when they moved into Remsen. Mr. Steffen died in 1966.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid of the church.
Surviving are a son, Roy of Kingsley; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Bertha Steffen, Lill Heitmann and Viola Gottsche, all of Remsen and Mrs. Alfred (Erma) Hansen of Kinsley; and three brothers, Raymond and Walter Grage, both of Remsen, and Arlie Grage of Marcus.
She was preceded in death by a son, Orville; a sister, Marie Roling; and two brothers Elmer and Henry Grage.
Casket bearers were Everald Steffen, Orlin Pratt, Merlin Hansen, Gary Grage, David Grage and Elroy Roling. – Remsen Bell-Enterprise
