Mrs. Merlyn (Lavonne) Miller, 54, Cherokee, former Akron resident, died Tuesday (April 9, 1985) in a Storm Lake nursing home after a long illness. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Plymouth Presbyterian church, rural Akron. Rev. Eugene Tolsted and Rev. Hatty Duncan officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Schroeder funeral home in Akron. Pallbearers were Larry Oltmanns, Roger Lunstra, Wayne Miller, Robert Miller, Wilbur Renken, Lou Dell Schuette, Wayne Lee Schuette, and John Molloy.
Mrs. Miller, the former Lavonne W. Klave, was born Oct. 14, 1930 to Harm and Edna Eggebrecht Klave in Preston township, rural Ireton. She graduated from the Ireton high school in 1950. She married Merlyn Miller Oct. 14, 1951 in Craig, Iowa. The couple lived in he Akron area until moving to Cherokee in 1974.
Survivors include her husband, Merlyn, Cherokee; one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Linda) Schram of Norfolk, Neb.; two sons, Jay of Sioux City and Todd of Cherokee; three sisters, Mrs. LaDonna Oltmanns of Craig; Mrs. Jerlois Renken of LeMars and Mrs. Joyce Lunstra of Sioux Falls, S.D.; her stepfather, Ernst Schuette of LeMars; two brothers Lou Dell Schuette of Craig and Wayne Schuette of Spirit Lake; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
