Obituary. Vernon C. Peters.
Casketbearers at the funeral of Vernon C. Peters, 66, well known Remsen implement dealer and musician, were Paul Waldschmidt, Milton Haack, Toby Bohlke, Vernon Brockel, Dave Ross and Donald Hughes.
Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Moeller funeral home in Remsen. Masonic rites by Seba lodge, 463, Marcus, were held conducted by Charles C. Howard, Sioux City consistory. Burial was in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
Mr. Peters died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 30, at St. Vincent hospital, Sioux City, after an illness of a month.
He was secretary-treasurer of local 600 American Federation of Musicians; a member of the national location committee, Masonic Seba lodge, 463, Marcus and headed Pete’s Imperial swing band for many years.
He was a musician at the present time with Jim Cook’s combo, Remsen.
Survivors are his wife, the former Marie Harnack; a son, Kermit Peters, Omaha; a brother, Leslie; three grandchildren; a nephew Terry Peters and two aunts. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Nov. 3, 1970, page 5.
