Mrs. Vernon Peters.
Mrs. Vernon (Marie) Peters, 74, lifelong Remsen resident, was found dead at her Remsen home Dec. 23, 1979. Her death was unexpected.
Marie Harnack was born Feb. 2, 1905 at Remsen to Ernest and Etta Moritz Harnack. She was a lifelong resident and taught in rural school in the Remsen area prior to her marriage.
She married Vernon Peters June 12, 1929 at Remsen. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Mrs. Peters was active in church and civic affairs. She was a charter member and active in the Christ Lutheran ladies aid. She was a member of the Remsen woman’s club and was active in Red Cross.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran church in Remsen with the former pastor, Rev. Allan Brutlag of May City, officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home at Remsen.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors are a son, Kermit Peters of Omaha; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Orville Raveling, Sioux City. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Dec. 24, 1979, page 12.
