Died, at his home in Remsen Sunday, May 1, 1892 at the age of 79 years, of old age, John Lang senior. Deceased was born in Switzerland, October 13, 1813. He came to the United States in 1854, and as a farmer earned for himself and his surviving aged widow an independent existence. He resided in Remsen since 1886 and has eight children living in Plymouth county: John Lang ex-county supervisor, Fred and Rudolf, two well doing farmers; Gottlieb and Will, who live in Remsen, Nic, ex-mayor of Remsen, Mary, wife of Nic Kohler and Elise living with her mother in Remsen. Deceased was a quiet man of proverbial honesty and integrity. His funeral Tuesday, May 3, was largely attended. – Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, May 6, 1892, page 4.
