Death of Mrs. Joseph Juhl.
Mrs. Joseph Juhl, who has made her home in Fredonia township for about twenty-five years, died on Sunday an hour or two after noon. Mrs. Juhl had been sick since the birth of her baby about eight days ago. The funeral was held from the Danish Lutheran church in Fredonia township on Tuesday and the church was filled by old friends and neighbors who mingled their sorrow and sympathy with the bereaved family. The services were conducted by Rev. Bondo, of Marcus, who paid a high tribute to her as a woman. The interment took place in the Lutheran cemetery in Remsen. There were a large number of floral gifts, an elaborate floral wreath being presented to her by the Danish Lutheran aid society of Marcus.
She was born in Denmark 36 years ago, both of her parents having preceded her to the grave. She came to Plymouth county about 20 years ago and this has been her home since. She was united in marriage with Joe Juhl about ten years ago in Fredonia township and five children were born to them, the youngest being a babe a few days old. By a previous marriage she had two children and they will be as faithfully looked after by Mr. Juhl as though they were his own.
Besides a husband and seven children she leaves one brother and two sisters. The brother is Jake Bergholt and the sisters are Mrs. [Nels} Peter Hendricksen, of Oklahoma and Mrs. Andrew Kloster, of Le Mars. All of the brothers and sisters were here to attend the funeral. Mrs. John Saathoff and Mrs. Johanna Madensen, sisters of Mrs. [Mr.] Juhl, came to attend the funeral. – Le Mars Globe Post, April 10, 1907, page 3.
Note: Mrs. Andrew Kloster was not a sister. Andrew Kloster was a cousin to the Bergholt siblings. Maria’s husband was known as Johannes Juhl and also Joseph Juhl.
