Alva Port

Alva Port, 79, Akron, died Saturday morning (Nov. 17, 1979) in the Akron hospital of a long illness.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the First Church of Christ at Akon. Burial was in Riverside cemetery at Akron. The prayer service was at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Schroeder funeral home at Akron.

Mr. Port was born March 19,1900, at Akron. He was married to Lucetta Frances Morehead Dec. 14, 1919, at Elk Point, S.D. She died Sept. 22, 1942. He married Velma Ruth Knecht March 3,1944, at Elk Point. Mr. Port farmed in the Westfield and Akron area his entire life.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Daryl of Akron, Archie of Le Mars and Dennis at home; two brothers, Roy of Nipton, Calif., and Fay of Akron; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.
