John H. Lockwood departed this life last Tuesday afternoon, March 12,1974, at our Akron Hospital, following an illness of some duration. He was 51 years of age.

Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in Immanuel Lutheran church. Rev. David Roy officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Akron. Serving as pallbearers were Fred Claesson, Jr., Gene Rohlfs, Kenneth Small, Alfred Beeck, Walter Schleis and Leslie Trometer.

John Hundley Lockwood was born in Missoula, Montana, June 13, 1922. His parents were John and Pauline Lockwood. He spent his boyhood and youth both in Montana and in this area. At a wedding service in South Sioux City, Nebraska, he was united in marriage to Miss Wilma Cassen February 27,1943. During the last 27 years they have made their home in Akron. John was employed by Plymouth County Maintenance Department during the past 20 years. On February 22, 1950, he became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church here in Akron through confirmation, and has continued his membership here ever since. Mr. Lockwood gained for himself a wide circle of friends and is known by many others through his work for our county.

Those who survive his departure include: his wife, Mrs. Wilma Lockwood of Akron; his son, John H. Lockwood Jr., of Port Edwards, Wisconsin; his four daughters, Mrs. Carol Batchelder of Hawarden, Iowa, Mrs. Donna Hubner of Camp Pendleton, California, Patty Lockwood of South Sioux City, Nebraska and JoleneLockwood at home; his brother, Ernest Lockwood of Mitchell, South Dakota; his sister, Mrs. Harriet Wilde of Sioux City; his three grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
