Obituary. Mrs. Adolph Groepper.
Mrs. Adolph (Katie) Groepper, 85, longtime Remsen area resident, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Floyd Valley hospital after a long illness. She had been at the hospital since Nov. 9.
A prayer service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. at the Moeller funeral home in Remsen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran church in Remsen. Rev. Walter Kurth will officiate and burial will in the Remsen city cemetery under direction of the Moeller funeral home.
The former Katherine Rochau, she was born April 30, 1886, in Holstein. She was married Oct. 30, 1907, and farmed from 1916 to 1946 south of Remsen. The couple moved to Remsen in 1946 and Mr. Groepper died in 1958.
Survivors are six sons, Ernest, Harry, Alvin and Kenneth, all of Remsen; Loren of Kingsley; Walter of Elkton, S.D.; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Viola) Berding of Le Mars; Mrs. William (Edna) Dunne of Kingsley; Mrs. Donald (Lillie) Nestor of Marcus and Mrs. Vernon (Alice) Schanahan, South Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Alice Jatho, Holstein; 46 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph in 1958; a daughter, Mabel in 1947 and by a son Clarence Groepper. – Le Mars Daily Sentinel, Jan. 3, 1972, page 4.
